Lover of color raised on the Mississippi River, educated by the good folks at The Savannah College of Art and Design and happily undone by the beautiful chaos that is New Orleans and its music. When she landed in New Orleans, she worked as a sculptor and painter for The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and for many local film productions including HBO’s “Treme” and Disney’s “The Imagination Movers.” During that time, she fell in love with the way that color can change the feeling in a room.

Margaret grew up one of six kids In Natchez, MS where she began developing her craft with an introduction to fiber arts and pattern design taught to her by her paternal grandmother through the creation of applique wall hangings.

She now teaches Design in the Architecture Department at Tulane University and owns Margaret Tillman Studio, a painting, mural, and illustration studio in the Crescent City. Her most recent commissions have been paintings for private clients as well as murals for Ayu Bakehouse, Mister Mao, The Broadside, Smoke and Honey, the Waldorf School of New Orleans. She has also made designs and illustrations for clients including Trader Joe’s, Pyrex, American Greetings and others.
